QuestionWhy do flooring materials develop mold?

AnswerFlooring materials develop mold for various reasons. In general, it is oftentimes due to moisture on the floor. This moisture combined with by-products (adhesives or paper) causes discoloration of the linoleum in some cases, and metastasizes on many occasions. In this state, even if you replace the linoleum, the same phenomenon may reoccur. So you need to completely remove all moldy parts, and remove impurities and moisture before installation.

QuestionI wonder how to clean and take care of gold tiles.

Answer1) If there is sand on the installed tiles, it may damage the surface and cause abrasion and scratches, and if you leave the contaminated part unattended, they will stick to the floor and become difficult to remove. So you need to clean it on a regular basis.
2) In places with lots of dust or frequent traffic, you need to use clean water, or a mixture of a small quantity of cleaner and warm water, and wipe the floor with a mop.
3) If this cleaning is not enough, use a neutral detergent.
4) To keep the linoleum beautiful for a long time, and to protect the floor from scratches, you need to treat it with surface protectors on a regular basis. Use a sponge or a clean mop to spread the surface protector thinly and evenly on the surface of the floor.
5) The frequency of using the surface protector may vary depending on the use conditions and state of the linoleum, but it is advisable to comply with the following standard.
6) After treatment with a surface protector, it may accumulate on the surface, causing contamination or yellowing. If so, you need to remove it. In this case, spread the wax remover with a sponge, leave it for 5 minutes, and scrub it gently with a sponge or steel wool to remove the protector. Then, re-treat the surface with the surface protector. Never use a solvent.
7) If you drop solvent, lacquer or a chemical onto the floor, use alcohol to quickly remove it, and if the surface is already contaminated, remove it as instructed, depending on the contaminant.

QuestionThe wood-pattern flooring materials were discolored.

Answerre are several causes of discoloration. In general, the following cases are usually due to maintenance problems rather than defects in the product. First, if the floor is very moist, heat over a prolonged period makes the moisture affect the top layer and discoloration will take place. Second, if there are foreign materials (varnish, paint, etc.) on the surface of the floor, it will affect the surface. Third, if you placed an object or a rug on a fixed location of the floor for a long time, the color underneath it may differ from that of other locations.

QuestionWhat is the warranty period for windows and doors?

AnswerThe warranty period of our products is two years. Unless there are special circumstances, they will be replaced or repaired free of charge for two years after installation. If your warranty period has expired, please contact our head office, and we will help you locate an agent so that you can get it repaired at cost.

QuestionI am planning to expand the living room. Which sash do you recommend?
I understand that there are 4 types: Home Sash Plus, Smart, Balconia and Darwin, and they seem to have different uses.

AnswerBalconia is a window exclusively for balconies, and Home Sash Plus is a prefabricated window, which is divided into an inner window and outer window. Smart is a welded window installed inside an apartment or villa. In your case, i.e. expansion of the balcony including the outermost window, I believe Darwin would be the best choice.

QuestionWhat is the difference between Home Sash and Balconia?

AnswerHome Sash is the name of the prefabricated product. The welded version is called Golden Sash. Balconia is the product for a balcony within our prefabricated product line (Home Sash). It uses PVC on the inside, and AL on the outside, taking advantage of the strengths of these two materials. Besides Balconia, Home Sash products for the balcony include Balconia LF-119 and NF-117A, which use PVC on both the inside and outside.

QuestionWhere can I get a product catalog/price list?

QuestionI’d like to become a Hanwha L&C agent.

AnswerWith regard to opening an agency, we consider commitment, sales capability, and activity in accordance with our standards when we select potential sales agents. Our agents must have a certain amount of security, initial operating funds and capital funds. Also, even if these basic conditions are satisfied, whether we will appoint an agency depends on the conditions of neighboring markets (existing agencies, competitive agencies). Please contact our head office or nearby sales agent for further details.

QuestionI’d like to know more about GMT-related materials.

AnswerIt stands for GLASS MAT REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC. As the conventional PP is weak, GMT is a reinforced plastic with woven fiberglass added. For more details please call us at 82-2-729-1349.

QuestionI’d like to know more details about the kinds, uses and physical properties of compounds.

AnswerWe are producing various products, which meet our customer’s needs, ranging from general-purpose products to special-purpose products, such as soft products (shoes, clothing, gaskets, hoses and tubes, flooring materials, finishing materials), rigid foam products (Fittings, Deco panels, Window profiles, blinds, transparent tubes, and other extruded products), automotive parts (Window moldings, Weather strips, Side moldings, injection moldings and extrusion blow forming parts, Powder slush moldings), and items for the manufacture of plastic bottles.

QuestionI am curious about Hanwha L&C's entry into the electronics and telecommunications material industry.

AnswerWe established a department for new business back in 2000, and accelerated our effort to develop new products and push forward with new business. Our leading product is the Flexible Copper Clad Layer (FCCL) business. We have concentrated our energies on independent development, and installed a pilot production line at the Daedeok Research Institute in Daejeon in July 2002, and have since produced many new products. Also, we invested \10 billion last year to build a production plant capable of producing 300,000㎡ per month at the Bugang Plant in Chungcheong-bukdo. By next year we will complete our second expansion, and increase capacity to 600,000㎡ per month. In addition to the FCCL on the 3rd floor, which began production first, we decided to invest in the FCCL on the 2nd floor which is capable of configuring flexible and fine circuitry. The total investment in the expansion and new equipment was \30 billion. By the end of 2005 we increased capacity by 80,000㎡ per month with the FCCL on the 2nd floor, and by 600,000㎡ per month with the FCCL on the 3rd floor. At the end of 2007 when the 3rd expansion came on line, the capacity of the FCCL on the 2nd floor increased to 160,000㎡ per month, and the capacity of the FCCL on the 3rd floor increased to 900,000㎡. We are projecting sales in excess of \200 billion. To firmly establish ourselves as a leader in state-of-the-art materials, Hanwha L&C is aiming to be recognized in the new high-value-added IT material category by taking the lead in localizing the materials for LCD and organic EL, i.e. the ITO glass for organic EL, the next-generation flat-panel display, which we are already producing, and the separate film used for the separator for secondary batteries, which we are planning to produce in the future.

QuestionWhat is engineered stone?

AnswerIt is a new type of natural stone mainly made of natural Quartz (93% or more). It enhances the strength of the natural stone, and opens a new genre in surface finishing materials. Khan Stone was born out of a technical partnership with Italy’s Breton, a world-class engineered stone equipment maker. It is a product of the “vacuum compression molding” process powered by cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art equipment. We are planning to systematically start production, sales and PR this coming October. We welcome your interest.

QuestionWhy is Hanwha L&C not listed on the stock market?

AnswerIn July 1999 it was spun off from Hanwha Chemical Corporation. Hanwha Chemical Corporation specializes in raw materials, whereas Hanwha L&C specializes in polymer processing. As a result, Hanwha Chemical Corporation is listed on the stock market, and Hanwha L&C is not listed for several reasons.
